ProRail 10 kV Project: TerraCarta Maps Underground Infrastructure

As part of the GOOI project (Grip Op Ondergrondse Infra), TerraCarta was commissioned to locate and map ProRail’s 10 kV power lines in the Randstad Noord region. This extensive project covered a total length of no less than 300 kilometers, spread across 137 substations. The survey focused on the power lines between power supply stations and substations, which are crucial for the power supply to the railway network.

Advanced

detection techniques

To locate this underground infrastructure, TerraCarta used a combination of advanced techniques, including ground-penetrating radar, radio detection, and test trenches. Thanks to the excellent measurement conditions, the number of test trenches could be kept to a minimum, making the process more efficient and less disruptive to the surrounding area.

The Importance of Control Over

underground infrastructure

ProRail’s GOOI project emphasizes the importance of an up-to-date and accurate overview of underground infrastructure. By making this information available, maintenance and expansion projects can be carried out more efficiently and safely, with minimal risk of damage caused by excavation and unexpected costs. TerraCarta plays a key role in this by combining innovative detection techniques with expertise in cable and pipeline surveys.
